Be Amazed by the Experiences at WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge

If you're planning a family vacation and are curious about how Pigeon Forge’s WonderWorks compares to London’s interactive experiences, you’ll find some striking parallels with venues like the Science Museum or KidZania. Just as London offers a blend of educational fun with its cutting-edge exhibitions, WonderWorks delivers a similar mix of hands-on learning and entertainment across its many themed zones. Whether you’re braving hurricane winds or stepping into an astronaut's shoes, the activities at WonderWorks echo the immersive, family-friendly spirit of London’s best attractions, making it a fascinating destination for those who love blending education with excitement.

You’ve booked your hotel, have your travel sorted, and you’re ready to pack your bags so you and your family can enjoy a fantastic time at Pigeon Forge. There’s just one problem – you can’t make up your mind about what to do when you get there.

It’s the conundrum of choices, and it’s one every visitor faces given that Pigeon Forge is full to bursting point with so many things to do and see. But if you have little ones, the WonderWorks Interactive Experience is one of the must-visit attractions in the heart of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Here’s what to expect when you step into this world of wonder.

The Space Discovery Zone

Prepare to voyage when few have gone before in the Space Discovery Zone, which shows you and your kids what it feels like to be among the brave few who experience the universe outside our world.

WonderWorks has a full-size replica of the EVA suits that spacewalking astronauts use to carry out maintenance and repairs on their ships. Thankfully, you won’t be jetting up yourself. But you’ll get to wear the suit and experience a little of what astronauts see when they’re in the great beyond.

Once you’ve climbed out of the suit, you can take on the Astronaut Training Challenge. Assuming you meet the height requirements (4-foot-6-inch to 6-foot-2-inch), you can get strapped into a gyroscope that rotates you in all directions to simulate the rolls, weightlessness, and G-force an astronaut feels when flying into space.

If you’d rather keep your feet on the ground (and your belly in good condition), the Space Discovery Zone also features a replica of one of the launch capsules from Project Mercury. It offers a fascinating insight into the first manned spaceflight program NASA ever operated.

The Wonder Art Gallery

After all of the excitement of your virtual voyage into space, you may want to experience some more earthbound pleasures. The Wonder Art Gallery is ideal. It features interactive exhibitions, including a set of 17 sculptures inspired by the work of Dr Seuss and illusionary pieces that boggle the mind and entertain the brain.

This isn’t a stuffy old gallery, and your kids won’t get bored while you wander around it.

The Extreme Weather Zone

Did you know that a Category 1 hurricane can reach wind speeds of up to 95mph?

Thankfully, WonderWorks doesn’t subject you to a full Category 1 hurricane. But its Hurricane Shack generates winds of 74 mph – only one mile per hour less than you’d experience in the weakest version of a Category 1 hurricane.

Once you’re done being blown away, you can get all shaken up by moving to the Earthquake Café. You can shake along with your milkshake as you dine during a simulated earthquake. And for cooler customers, there’s the “How Cold Is It?” exhibit to show you just how cold the water surrounding the Titanic was (and the extremes that survivors endured) on that fateful day in 1912.

There Are So Many More Wonders to Discover

The three zones highlighted above are just a taste of what WonderWorks offers. There’s so much more. Stretch your intellectual muscles in the Imagination Lab or push your body to the limit in the Physical Challenge Zone. By the time you walk out of WonderWorks doors, you’ll be enlightened and exhausted in equal measure.
